At dock
It’s been about a decade since I’ve owned a boat, so recently I decided to remedy that! I ended up buying a 2000 Sea Say 270 Sundancer from Prince William Marina. She was in great shape, and I got a pretty decent deal on her. However, she is a 15 year old boat, so there were some issues:
- VacuFlush head wouldn’t keep vacuum
- Canvas was old and cracked/ripped
- Some seals needed to be replaced
- Possible drive problem (investigating now)
Plus, I needed a few things added:
- Cable TV jack in the aft locker
- GPS installation
- New canvas all around
These are all things that I new about, and given her age I had to figure that every bit of rubber on her is trashed. Sure, these expenses are adding up, but nothing beats that feeling when you push the throttle forward and she hops up on plane! This is going to be an awesome year!
